Interventional Radiologists are experts in image-guided procedures. Prostatic Artery Embolization is one of the most difficult procedures, which requires advanced microcatheter and wire skills. Experience in PAE is critical as there is highly variable anatomy, small target vessels and each patient has unique symptomatology.

The arteries that travel to the prostate may arise from many places and this can make the procedure challenging. An excellent understanding of the anatomy is needed in order to perform the procedure well.

Clinical Expertise

While millions of men have BPH, not all men may be candidates for PAE. Certain overlapping syndromes may cause symptoms and this should be properly evaluated by an experienced IR before undergoing PAE.
